It’s not exactly Oscar bait, but the romantic comedy Monster-In-Law is still a valuable artistic undertaking--from a musical perspective, that is. In a just world, acts like Tegan and Sara, Ivy, and Rachael Yamagata wouldn’t need Hollywood to expand their audience, but in our universe it helps. In return, this talented, mostly-female collection of vocalists, have made "Monster-In-Law" one of the best compilations of the year. Virtually every track on this album is a homerun, from "Won't U Please B Nice" (trademark bite from Nellie McKay) to "Don't Wait Too Long" from rising jazz titan Madeleine Peyroux. Sara Bareilles’ "Love on the Rocks," is a piece of pop so addictive that it will almost certainly land you in musical rehab. What more is there to say? Monster-In-Law proves true love can exist…with a soundtrack. --Leah Weathersby
